New accommodation and some major hotel developments have been announced in Melbourne recently. From serviced apartments to luxury boutique hotels and art-inspired accommodation, visitors to Melbourne are not short of places to rest their heads after a day exploring the vibrant city.


Opened in July 2014, Coppersmith is a full-service 15 room boutique hotel with a bistro, bar and rooftop retreat and is located a stone’s throw from Albert Park Lake in South Melbourne. Design firm HASSELL has reinvigorated the historic 1870s facade of what was formerly the Cricket Club Hotel. Its interior features artisan furniture designed and crafted locally by names such as Ross Gardam, Living Edge and Jardan. Mantra St Kilda Road
The new Mantra property on St Kilda road is the seventh of The Mantra Group’s ventures in Melbourne. Mantra St Kilda Road offers 159 spacious studio, one and two bedroom full serviced apartments that feature gourmet kitchens, large living areas and balconies with spectacular views across Albert Park Lake, the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Domain Parklands. The Larwill Studio
Luxury Art Series Hotel Group will open its fourth Melbourne property, The Larwill, in Parkville on 8 September 2014, near the Melbourne Zoo just outside of the city. The property will have 96 Workspaces (rooms),  inspired by the works of late artist David Larwill with art classes, art books and utensils on supply so guests can immerse themselves in the creative process. Jasper Hotel
The four-star boutique hotel  located just around the corner from Queen Victoria Market in the city, has undergone a seven million dollar refurbishment and redesign. Relaunching on 29 September 2014, Jasper Hotel will now  feature 90 rooms (previously 65), state-of-the-art conference facilities, refurbished balcony suites overlooking Elizabeth Street and the Queen Vic Market, a communal courtyard, as well as a new look restaurant and bar. 489 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne, +61 8327 2777

QT Melbourne
The first QT hotel in Melbourne is set to open mid-September 2016 and will feature 200 rooms including 24 private lifestyle apartments. Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands
Set to open in January 2017, Four Points by Sheraton will feature 269 guest rooms including 18 suites with each guest room offering stunning harbour and city views. The hotel will also house three food and beverage venues including a signature restaurant, a deli-style style cafe and the hotel’s signature bar.
